My idea on selfies:
I think a selfie is where you take a picture of your self and you have to take it with a smartphone using the front facing camera.
Selfie definition:
A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media.
Robert Cornelius was an American pioneer photography and lamp manufacturer. He is also known for being the first person in history to take a selfie.
My OPINION:
Personally I think selfies are pointless because they don't do anything for you other then maybe get your self esteem higher when other people comment on posts.
CURATOR EXHIBITION:
In the Vivian Maier exhibition I worked with Henry and we used 14 photos and arranged them into her initials. Vivian Mair was a secretive person but she only got the recognition she deserved when she had died, she took thousands of photos but only printed around 20.

We choose these photos because they were different type of colours and they have her shadows in them and that changes the aspect of the picture and I found that interesting.

That picture is me and Henry deciding on where to put the photos.

Assessment:In the picture by Lee Friedlander you can see windows on the side which could mean that someone is taking a picture from inside the building, but the main subject is ahead, you can see a person but the outline is just black like a silhouette and behind the person there is a white square and you can't tell what it is or why its there and I found that interesting. Also, something that stood out, on the left there is a man standing beside a car and the fascinating bit about about it is that if you look at the shadow by the way it looks you can tell that the photo was taken in good weather. In the photo by Francesca Woodman there is a radiator on the right and there is a lot of darkness and shadows in the photo, but in the middle there is a door and you can see a small hand on the door with a shadow on it. In the Kenneth Joesphson photo you can see that someone is taking and their arm is sticking out and the similarities that all the photos are that they are all in black and white, but the difference is that that in the last photo the main subject isn't in the middle it is in the bottom right corner.
Francessca Woodmen used the frame within frames technique very well because when you look around the photo it kind of looks like its framed but when you look in the middle it looks like a frame in the door way. Something I found mysterious in the photo by Lee Friedlander is that the person right in front of the of the window is fully black and there is a square object behind him. Something that I found interesting in Francessca Woodman photo is that there is a random door in the middle there is a random door and someones hand is making a shadow out of it. Kenneth Joesphson photo is that in his shadow you can see his clothes and you can see sort of a cowboy hat or something that suggests he's a cowboy. I THINK KENNETH JOSEPHENS PICTURE IS THE MOST INFLUNTAL BECUSE MOST PHOTOGRAPHERS PUT THE SUBEJCT IN THE MIDDEL BUT HE PUT IT IN THE CORNER OF THE PHOTO |
